Interesting article here about the fact that smoking in public places like restaurants is sometimes being ended by the business owners, irrespective of any legal requirements. It also discusses the 'education gap' between smokers and non-smokers.
If some businesses do it voluntarily, what's the need for smoking bans? Let the market (or rather, the hospitality industry) sort it out, according to what customers want, or what customers they want to attract. General smoking bans, as in the UK, don't lead to the promised flood of non-smoking customers. To say the least.
I provide cartoons for the Evansville Courier and Press and I'm also a Professor of History at the University of Evansville and my academic research is on WW2.This is a personal website and reflects my views, not those of the institutions with which I am associated.
